Navjot Singh Sidhu, a rich fun loving NRI now settled in a small village of Punjab, invokes the spirit of self-empowerment in his village. The lives of the youth, led by Harbhajan Mann, are transformed by Sidhu’s simple but extremely enterprising initiatives. As time goes by, the village is transformed into a sparkling hamlet that in fact becomes a model for surrounding areas where villages all across have started aping the message of self empowerment.
‘Mera Pind - My Home’, as the name itself suggests, is essentially a film woven around the plot and backdrop of a Punjabi village with its typical characters and their own set of challenging and trying circumstances which would be conveyed cinematically.
The idea is to make targeted Punjabi audiences realize the importance of being entrepreneur in your own land, rather than showing their extraordinary entrepreneurship in far-off lands in the west where Punjabis are touted to be fairly successful and hardworking, an impression which belies the visible reality back home.
The movie, like all Manmohan Singh movies, shall have a perfect mix of romance, family bonding, outstanding music & fun, around the central theme of self empowerment, making it one of the most sought-after Punjabi films of the year 2008.
